Community Service

Community service will make a huge impact in the lives of several families throughout the Matanuska Valley.  From actual home construction to repair and renovation, your group will use their hands and their hearts to touch families struggling to live in challenging climate of Alaska.  Types of repair and renovation include home roofing, insulation, replacing windows, painting, building decks, landscaping, and dry wall work.   Projects will generally be aligned with the types of experiences and skills your group may have.  At the same time, if your group has no previous construction experience, we will attempt to align you with an EAM team leader that will teach and coach your group in basic carpentry skills.   Although work is challenging and sometimes difficult, your team will also have opportunity to meet the family and share your story.   Families are generally eager to connect with groups and express their appreciation for your willingness to help.  Doors are often opened to share your faith and how Christ has made a difference in your life.

You can be assured that many years after you served in Alaska, families will be enjoying warm, safe and secure homes because you cared enough to spend a week in Alaska!
